Dorothy Lennox – Selcage, International Commissioner to North America

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Gordon

Eighteen years have passed since Dorthy Lennox – Selcage joined the International Clan MacFarlane Society.  With her MacFarlane kilt and reference books, Dorothy traveled with her husband Gordon to promote Clan MacFarlane at the various Highland Games. Creating original table displays, she set off for weekends in the spring, summer and fall to attend Scottish Festivals and Games. Her travels took her both across Canada and the United States. Dorothy was appointed North American Commissioner for our Society. She even set up our clan’s display at the 2009 Gathering in Edinburgh. Her enthusiasm, dedication and pride were enjoyed by all she met. Wherever she traveled, she greeted everyone cordially. Both hugs and smiles were given freely. From sprinting, to walking slowly with a cane, to pushing a walker, to driving a wheelchair,.. Dorothy had the drive to to inspire others, often assisting them in their search for answers to their clan questions.

Now, Dorothy is gone but not forgotten. She has set on another adventure. Say a prayer – raise a dram – or a glass. Light a candle to this remarkable woman. She gave of herself to make others happy. Safe journey, Dorothy. We will meet again one day. We miss you and the very special lady you were. Dorothy leaves behind her devoted husband Gordon, whose “Wee Lassie” she always was, and loving son Bryan. The international Clan MacFarlane Society  will miss her very much.

Unfortunately, our society, was not informed of Dorothy’s passing right away. Two weeks after Dorothy left us, Gordon suffered a heart attack. He is successfully recovering with lots of rest and physical therapy.  He is now retired from his work and would like to continue to represent the International Clan MacFarlane Society at Games and Festivals in Ontario, Canada with their son Bryan beginning with the 2018 Season.
