About the McMinnville Scottish Festival

The McMinnville Scottish Festival is a time for everyone near and far to join us in the Pacific Northwest and experience a weekend of Scottish culture and celebration. Come, and feel the tremor in your chest from the bagpipes and drums, the warm embrace of comrades, and the chance to see both novice and Titan athletes compete in the Scottish Games. Whether you come to see outstanding dance and music performances, the games, or to meander through our vendors while nibbling a Scottish shortbread, the McMinnville Scottish Festival is sure to delight!

The Venue

The McMinnville Scottish Festival is held at the Yamhill County Fairgrounds, in McMinnville, Oregon USA. Yamhill County Fair is Oregon’s oldest County Fair. While the first fair was in 1854, at that time it was in Lafayette, Oregon, which was also the seat of Yamhill County, until county residents voted to move the seat to McMinnville. The fair moved venues throughout the area, until settling in McMinnville in the 1940’s, in the area of Lafayette Avenue, where it is today. It was built up over many years, with additions coming as needs and interests emerged. The Kadell barn was the first of many structures, and has housed not only blue-ribbon show animals, but a Calvary unit during World War 2, and the Sheriff’s Posse. Then came the 4H Home Economics Hall, which also served as a meeting place for the county. It was located near where the Yamhill County Public Works and OSU Extension office is today. Over the next few decades came the Harding Barn, the Delashmutt Arena, the Drader Arena, Cascade Steel Rodeo Arena, the Leslie Lewis Pavilion, and many livestock barns.

We feel this will be a great location for the festival to stretch its legs and utilize the great spaces available. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
