About The International Talisker Highland Games
After a 2-year break due to Corona, the small, idyllic town of Trebsen near Leipzig with its castle and park will become the nationwide center for Scottish life and national culture on the third weekend in September.
The International Highland Games are taking place for the 21st time. The event has become a trademark. Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the spectacle, which is unrivaled in this dimension even in Scotland.
The main attraction is the International Pipe Band Competitions. Pipe bands and solo pipers and drummers compete against each other under the eyes of Scottish judges. The highlight is the big parade of the pipe bands and making music together on the fairground. In addition, amateur teams measure their strength in the typical Scottish disciplines such as tree trunk throwing, throwing weights, throwing stones, tug of war or whiskey barrel rolls.
On Sunday there will be the GHGF Championships for lone fighters. On two stages, guests can experience top-class Scottish & Irish folk music and Irish tap dance for 3 days.
Many Scottish clans will present themselves in the Clan Village.
A large supporting program with a falconer show, sheep herding, children’s Highland Games, Scottish dealers’ mile, Highland cattle to touch and much more make the Highland Games a first-class event.
