Scott & Gina McFarland

We are happy to announce the appointment of Scott and Gina McFarland as the new International Clan MacFarlane Society Commissioners to South Florida. Scott and Gina have been a delightful addition to our annual Clan gatherings and have volunteered to represent our Society in their home state. Their passion and fun-loving spirit is much appreciated and we cannot wait to see what they accomplish.

We asked Scott and Gina to tell us a wee bit about themselves, their personal MacFarlane story and what they have planned for the future of clan work in their area.

Meet Scott & Gina | In Their Own Words

As Scott is the MacFarlane by birth, here is his clan journey in his own words.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself? What part of the world are you from? What do you do for work? What are your passions?

I have done some research thru Ancestry and have been able to trace my great grandfathers back to Scotland, but I am not quite sure exactly what cities they lived in. One grandfather was John Peter Mcfarland born 1797 lived till 1827. My two recent grandfathers were born and raised in Meadville, Pennsylvania. My father and his father lived in Buffalo, New York and Marco Island, Florida.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about your ancestors/personal family history?

My father had talked about Scotland from time to time, which peaked my interest.

Q: How did you discover or learn about your MacFarlane heritage?

I found out about the connection when reading through some family lineage and history.

Q: What area of Clan MacFarlane history or heritage interests you the most?

I have developed a fond interest in learning about history, and kept looking into castles of Scotland.

Q: As Clan MacFarlane Commissioners to South Florida, what are you looking forward to the most?

Looking forward to the comradery with other MacFarlanes and learning more of my heritage.

Q: What would you most like to accomplish in your new position?

As commissioners, we are so looking forward to hosting as many Clan gatherings as we possibly can.
